It seems like we have already gotten the full picture of
groundswell, its advantages, and how to tap it, but we still have not fully
discover the mystery of groundswell. As I mentioned in previous blog, we know
that a win-win solution could be gained when companies find a proper way to
interact with its groundswell, customers; however, there is another path for
companies to refine this solution when they tap the groundswell inside their
companies, employees.

Qualcomm, a company found in 1985 by 7 veterans, who
“decided they wanted to build ‘Quality Communications.” This company ranked the
No. 1 of the employer with the greatest jump in employee happiness year over
2013. Qualcomm experienced a significant
increase in company reputation. This success gained Not only by providing
qualified products but also by satisfying staff inside company. With 30%
revenue increase last year, Matt Miller, CareerBliss chief technology officer,
says, “the company has seen successful growth in their business, which is shown
by the satisfaction of their workforce.”
This example illustrates that the importance of taping
groundswell inside companies. Companies could build closer relationships with
employees and employees’ relationship with each other in order to arouse
initiatives on their employees. Some enthusiastic employees could be chosen as
positive incidents for all other employees by supporting them inside the
groundswell. Also, there are always some communication gaps between high
management and basic employees, while these employees are the persons who
directly interact with customers and know the market needs. Feedbacks from
employees are precious, and taping the groundswell inside companies would be a
short cut to gain these feedbacks.
As a reminder, companies should be prepared well before
tapping groundswell inside of them so that staff and managers can participate
fully and efficiently.
